Criticized as regurgitating the same old formulae of fight club and karate kid, this film about fighting is fronted by a dashing lead who bears an uncanny resemblance to Tom Cruise, except that he is much younger, taller and more chiseled. Interested now?

This film is about growing up, learning and controlling yourself as much as overcoming your mental blocks. Over used and over filmed themes they may be but the fight scenes, though brutal, had me hooked and wanting for more. Gosh, I wish I had the abs and the leanness of the leads man!

Jake Tyler learns that the art of fighting is a form of protection as much as an act to stop all senseless fighting. How appropriate to create more opportunities for more fight scenes right? In order to stop all fighting, one has to fight back! Hey that makes sense doesn’t it? More fighting means more excitement with more fight scenes! Yeah! Hip hip hooray to fighting!

The act of letting go has never ringed more true. Jake learns to let go of blaming himself for things that are long past and of which he has no control over. For example, he learnt to stop blaming the death of his father on himself because he did not stop his father from driving although he was drunk. He learnt that martial arts does not need to culminate in fighting (although that was exactly what he did). Most importantly, he learnt that there are times when one needs to fight back to end all fights (which was what he managed to do).

Duh, stop driveling on all the morality issues of this movie and just enjoy the fight scenes la!
