Death By An Angel
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie, having not expected much from it. It actually is a very decent piece of romantic comedy with the pieces falling into place nicely. Perhaps the role of Ashley was well cast and she was able to bring life to the character and script.

Though people who watch this movie most probably did so to see Eva Longoria, I have to say that I was disappointed in her performance. She basically did a reprisal of Desperate Housewives but appeared much, much darker than her Hispanic roots. What’s with that roasted chocolate skin tone? Her body language, voice, acting, dressing, in fact, everything belonged to Gabrielle Solis! It was such a yawn watching her. Good thing Ashley, her rival in love managed to salvage the otherwise bland movie with an equally bland male lead with a bout of very serious puffy eyes.

Story goes that girl died on her wedding day, before taking her vows (she was crushed by an angel, literally!), husband-to-be can’t get over her. Then he finally meets a lady who manages to have a place in his heart, with a fortuitous incident involving his dead wife-to-be. Then dead wife becomes jealous and attempts to thwart their budding relationship, only to realize that she should let go of him if she truly loves him.

Corny, yes I know, but it is really watchable! At least it’s a happy ending.
